What is Microneedling Treatment?
Microneedling involves using tiny, sterilized needles to create micro-injuries in the skin. This stimulates the skin’s natural healing process triggering collagen and elastin production.
Microneedling is safe for most skin types and requires little downtime, making it a popular choice for skin rejuvenation.
Here’s what to expect:
- Your skin is cleansed and dried.
- An enzymatic peel is applied to exfoliate the skin clearing the dead skin cells.
- Then, based on what issue you’re trying to treat, a sterile active serum is applied- this makes the skin very moist and slick, so the microneedling device can glide over it. The microinjuries caused by the pen help the serum to be absorbed into the skin’s dermal layer, improving the overall glowing result.
- When microneedling, we use different depths, depending on the skin type and the part of the face we’re treating. The depth of treatment is also influenced by the issue being addressed.
- Post-treatment, a customized luxury cooling mask is applied to help calm down the skin.
How does Microneedling work?
Microneedling helps:
- Reduces fine lines and wrinkles, improving skin texture.
- Minimizes acne scars and stretch marks.
- Enhances skin firmness and elasticity.
- Improves pigmentation and evens skin tone.
- Boosts absorption of skincare products for better results.
- Can promote hair growth in some cases.
You can boost results by using medical-grade and prescription-strength skincare to prepare skin prior to the procedure, supplying it with core nutrients during recovery, and protecting it from further damage.
An initial treatment series of three to six monthly sessions is typically recommended. After that, you’ll need occasional maintenance treatments to keep up your results.
What areas can be treated with Microneedling?
It can be used on both the face and body to address a wide range of concerns
Time of procedure – 30-60 minutes
Discomfort Level – 2 out of 5
Results –
Most patients see a reduction in pore size within a day or two.
You should start to notice an improvement in your skin’s texture within a week of your first treatment.
More dramatic changes, like an improvement in acne scars or deeper wrinkles, likely won’t appear until you’ve had at least three treatments.
Downtime –
Following microneedling, the skin will appear red and inflamed for about 24-48 hours. It also depends on the skin tone of the patient as well.
In addition to redness and swelling, you may experience crusting, pinpoint bleeding, skin flaking, tightness, and sensitivity during the healing process. While these symptoms are usually short-lived, they can last up to 12 days if skin was treated aggressively. As we are repairing the skin barrier, textural changes in skin and sensitivity to products may linger the longest.
Because everyone heals differently, it’s wise to book at least two weeks prior to an event, to allow adequate recovery time.
Microneedling aftercare:
- washing your face with a gentle cleanser after 8 hours
- not wearing makeup on the day of your treatment, to help keep your skin clean and avoid infection
- wearing mineral powder sunscreen and avoiding UV light as much as possible is often recommended on the day of your treatment
- applying a skin care product with growth factors and peptides, to supply the building blocks necessary for the skin to repair itself
Because microneedling disrupts the skin barrier and leaves skin more sensitive, post-treatment skincare products should ideally be sterile or at least free from allergens that can cause rashes and contact dermatitis. We can provide an after-care kit containing products in single use vials to ensure sterility and optimal recovery.
How long do results last?
Microneedling results are not permanent. How long the benefits last for you will depend on your age, the state of your skin, and how well you take care of it.
Amplify the effects of traditional microneedling by combining it with exosomes, making it a very powerful option for skin rejuvenation.
